I will be a Grandmaster is a chess training app. It has no account system, no ads and no analytics.

What the app stores

Your training progress (rating, puzzle history, review schedule, opening drills, settings, owned items) is saved only on your device. It is never sent to us. Deleting the app deletes this data.

What leaves your device

  • Lichess game import (optional). If you type a Lichess username and tap import, the app asks the public Lichess API for that user’s recent games. Only the username is sent, directly to Lichess. Lichess’s own privacy policy applies to that request.
  • Server game review (if enabled in a future version). Only chess positions (FEN strings) are sent for analysis. No username, device ID or other identifier is attached, and positions are not stored.
  • Purchases. Subscriptions and items are sold through Apple. Apple handles payment, and we never see your name, Apple ID or card details. The app only checks with Apple which products you own.
  • Daily reminder. The optional training reminder is scheduled on your device. It is not a push notification and uses no server.

What we do not do

We do not collect personal information, track you across apps or websites, sell data, or show ads.

Children

The app does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.
